Stressing that their company ranks among top 500 companies in the ISO ranking, Konveyör A.Ş. Purchasing Expert Deniz Yasemin Aksu has mentioned the importance of HEFI for the sector.

SUBCONTURKEY: Could you introduce your country briefly?

Deniz Yasemin Aksu: Our company, which will celebrate the 40th anniversary next year, is a subsidiary industry establishment producing components and accessories made of copper, aluminum and steel pipes for domestic and international white goods producers.

Operating with over 2000 employees in 5 plants in 60.000 meter squares of indoor area in total including 3 plants in Tuzla Leather Organized Industrial Zone, 1 plant in Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone and 1 plant in Manisa Organized Industrial Zone; our company mainly produces all the components except for the compressor in the cooler circuits of the fridges and other coolers and the copper joining pipes connecting the compressor, condenser and evaporators located in the household type air conditioners. In addition to the 2 mentioned main products, our production includes aluminum gas safety pipes and steel pipe manifolds; copper joining pipes and components for heat pumps, geysers and combi boilers; and aluminum joining pipes for automobile air conditioners. We are able to produce copper and aluminum capillary pipes, which are strategically important for most of the components we produce, and aluminum pipes in various sizes within the scope of our corporate and with the technologies we develop.

The fact that our company ranks top 500 in the ISO ranking and we use 8 thousand tons of aluminum, 5 thousand tons of copper and 22 million meters of steel pipes in our production per year could give an idea for our total business volume. The share of our direct export in the turnover is 45 %. 80 % of this is derived from the sales made to the countries in EU, 10 % is to North America and South America, and the rest is to Russia and other countries in the Middle East.

SUBCONTURKEY: You will participate in HEFI 2018. What is your aim for participating in HEFI 2018? What are your expectations from the exhibition?

Deniz Yasemin Aksu: As a leader subsidiary industry establishment in its field in Turkey and Europe, we primarily consider participating in this exhibition as a duty. In addition, we aim at contributing to the positive impression as much as we can, especially on the subsidiary industries, of many foreign visitors who are expected to visit the exhibition to observe the reality of the white goods in Turkey. 

SUBCONTURKEY: Could you evaluate the importance of the exhibition for the sector?

Deniz Yasemin Aksu: Having been held by the beginning of 2000’s every year including one year in Germany (Domotechnica) and the successive year in France (Confortek), the white goods exhibitions have not been able to be held probably since 2002. The main reasons for this are the developing communication opportunities and that the customers are able to reach the information online quickly and free of charge. However, most of the occupational exhibitions, the beginning of which date back to long time ago continue to get attention with thousands of participants and hundred thousands of visitors in both Turkey and Europe. In addition to the leading exhibitions such as Tube & Wire, ISH, Chilventa, Euroshop, IFA and Hannover in Germany, Nuestro Convegno and BIMU in Italy and SODEX in Turkey; there are other existing occupational exhibitions. While the situation is the same in other fields, we have always considered the fact that there is no white goods exhibition in our country as a significant absence. Besides, an entrepreneur, as a representative of Domotechnica, attempted to organize a white goods exhibition in Istanbul in collaboration with BESYAD in 2003-2004, but it was not successful. Now, it is very on-point that a white goods exhibition (HEFI) will be held in Istanbul, the apple of the eye of Turkey, which is the country permanently settled in the location for being the largest white goods producer of Europe.  We congratulate our main industry making the first attempt for this exhibition which is no doubt to create a great impression not only in Europe but also in the world, and we wish this exhibition to be permanent for many years.

SUBCONTURKEY: Could you evaluate the contribution of HEFI 2018 to Turkey and the sector?

Deniz Yasemin Aksu: As just mentioned, the fact that Turkey has become the largest white goods production base in Europe has definitely increased the recognition of the domestic and foreign main industries producing in our country. There is also no doubt that it will be very attractive for the commercial companies marketing white goods in the world to visit this exhibition during which all the producers of our country will gather, observe the exhibited products in the booths and the possible innovations in its own place together, touch them and be able to gain information about them.

Besides being the first serious exhibition, which could fulfill the longing for a white goods sector for 15 years in the market, HEFI will be attractive for the comparatively young managers who have never experienced a white goods exhibition in their business life; thus, the attention to this exhibition will increase more.

There is no doubt that in addition to the marketing companies which will participate in the exhibition to make white goods connection to the exhibition, a respectable amount of purchasers will visit the exhibition to make an alternative subsidiary industry research with the basic sense of “There must be supportive and high potential subsidiary industries behind the producers in this country, which ranks first in Europe”. In this regard, we wish the participation of subsidiary industry in the exhibition to be in the scale of representing the real potential of white goods subsidiary industry.

SUBCONTURKEY: Would you like to add more about the exhibition?

Deniz Yasemin Aksu: Even though almost everyone has a smartphone today, apparently many people prefer purchasing newspapers and magazines every day and reading the daily news there rather than watching them on cellphones or tablets. The situation is the same everywhere in the world besides our country, and it is foreseen that the printed media will exist for decades. The question that if this preference is related to a conservatism for maintaining a habit or related to that people comprehend a product or writing better by putting three, four or five senses into use rather than using only one sense could be a research topic. Likewise, what is the main reason for many traditional exhibitions to maintain their existence in this Internet age? Is it because three or five of the 5 senses are put into use to comprehend the exhibited products? No matter why, we wish HEFI to be as permanent as the exhibitions, which maintain their existences for many years.
