Promet Metal mainly produces upper grills for furnaces, along with making various sheet formings, wire and metal sheet productions, surface cleaning and electrostatic enamel coatings. Promet Vice Chairman Okan Taşpınar has stated that they produced approximately 4.000.000 pieces of products in 2017.

SUBCONTURKEY: Could you inform us about your company briefly?

Okan Taşpınar: Promet was established in Istanbul in 1980. We became the first company in Turkey designing and producing upper grills for furnaces made of metal sheet and iron strip to be able to aware of and solve the problems such as the casting quality, high cost, environmental and aesthetics of the upper grills for furnaces, which were produced with casting. After the trial productions and prototype models were evaluated and approved by the leading companies of our key industry, the furnace sector experienced a rapid transformation; and the process of Promet, which still continues, started. We started producing in 200 meter-squares of area in Istanbul with 8 employees and 3-4 machines. Today, Promet manufactures in 20.000 meter-squares of area including 6.000 meter-squares of indoors with 150 employees; and the company has the departments such as R & D, moulding, electronic spot weld, presing, sand blasting, electrostatic enameling and CNC. Having started off the way with the sense of responsibility to our industry and country; Promet strengthens the steps it takes on the way to become a world brand with its philosophy of quality, new product range and innovative ideas.

The main production of Promet is upper grills for furnaces, and rest of the production includes various sheet formings, wire and metal sheet productions, sandblasting and electrostatic enamel coatings. We grew 15 %, and produced about 4.000.000 pieces in 2017.

SUBCONTURKEY: You will participate in HEFI 2018. What is the aim of your participation? What do you expect from the exhibition?

Okan Taşpınar: As Promet, we will surely be participating in this exhibition to be held in our country. Hereby, I would like to thank to everyone who has contributed to this exhibition and I wish this exhibition to be beneficial for both our sector and our country. We will exhibit our current products in this fair, and we will be glad of meeting with everyone in our sector.

SUBCONTURKEY: Could you evaluate the importance of the fair for the sector?

Okan Taşpınar: The white goods sector had been rapidly growing during last 15 years. Recently the sector has held the leadership in Europe, and maintains this title successfully. This title has been generated with that the leading establishments of the sector and the auxiliary industries in our country intellectually and technologically renovate themselves in every sense. I specifically use this adjective, because I think the companies called “supplier industry” should be called as “auxiliary industry” when we regard them as solution partners. The auxiliary industries, most of which are called as SME in our country, evaluate their policies and goals with the goals of the key industry. These companies incorporate the values such as productivity, resource management and efficiency, total quality management, experience, consistent alteration and development in real sense; lean these values on international standards and conditions, and increase the effectiveness by following these consistently; transfer these values to their employees and plan their works in this direction. The auxiliary industries, which make progress and change under the leadership of the key industry, have formed a whole, and this value has made us the leader in Europe. We believe the auxiliary industry companies will have the opportunity to introduce themselves better, and will be aware of the developments in sector thanks to this kind of exhibition organizations. The exhibitions are important for enabling the sector to maintain its leadership.
